Gamestop “You Got the Touch” TV

This one was some serious fan service. The great cultural touchstone of my preadolescence was the death of Optimus Prime in 1986’s Transformers: The Movie. In terms of emotional heft in an 11-year-old’s amygdala, it was bigger than the Challenger disaster. And the song (now firmly seared into every robot-loving gen-Xer) playing during Optimus’s tragic murder: Stan Bush’s power-cheese-ballad, You Got The Touch.  To make this spot for Gamestop’s prelaunch of the 80’s throwback game, “Transformers: War for Cybertron, ” we licensed the same song from one very game Stan Bush. The fans went wild, and the spot resulted in one of Gamstop’s most successful pre-order sales drives ever.
